The family name von Wrycza, nobilis Wrycz, has its roots from Rekowo, close to Bütow, where it was first noted year 1473. It origins from the German name Fritsch (Fritz) and successively changed to Wrycza (Rekowski) over the years.

During historic battles, such as the Battle of Cecora in 1620, the Battle of Chocim in 1621 and the Battle of Vienna in 1683, the knights swore allegiance to the Holy League.
